On 4 February 2010 at approximately 1900 hours, a three year veteran of the Baltimore Police Department was shot while working on-duty in the Northwestern District in the 3700 block of Oakmont Avenue.  The detective, assigned to the Violent Crime Impact Division, was shot in the arm and treated at University of Maryland - Shock Trauma and is in stable condition and will be released.

Bob Cherry and Gene Ryan responded to Shock Trauma and met with the police detective who was with his family members and side partners from V.C.I.D.  Also responding to Shock Trauma was Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake, Police Commissioner Frederick Bealefeld, several members of the Command Staff and Martin Knott of the Signal 13 Foundation, Inc.

The FOP wishes to acknowledge again the great work performed by the doctors, nurses, and staff at Shock Trauma and we are grateful our officer will be fine.

Two suspects were also shot at the scene, one fatally.
